The Ooty Lake is the pride of the Blue Hills. It is the central and strategic attraction. Mr. John Sullivan formed this artificial lake in the year 1824, the then Collector of Coimbatore. The Ooty lake which extends to an area of 65 acres. Earlier the entire lake was used for fishing.
Created by a former professor Mr. Antony Joseph in 1988, the Ooty Thread Garden exhibits some of the most magnificent and exquisite collections of artificial flowers and plants, all made by the expert hands of the skillful artists by using JUST thread. Antony Joseph, the mastermind behind this unique inception along with his 50 skilled workers and craftsmen has worked constantly for 12 years, to create the marvels of thread we see today.
Thunder World is a themed amusement park in Ooty. Also known as Dinosaur Park, it is famous amongst the young and the old who visit to get a feel of going back into the past and experiencing illusions or witnessing the world of spirits. The park is divided into themed sections – the Jurassic Jungle, the Vortex and the Haunted House.
Doddabetta is the highest mountain in the Nilgiri Mountains at 2,637 metres (8,652 feet). There is a reserved forest area around the peak. It is 9 km from Ooty, on the Ooty-Kotagiri Road in The Nilgiris District of Tamilnadu, India.
Spread over an area of nearly1 acre of land, the Ooty Tea Factory is situated amid the blue hills of Nilgiris, perched at an altitude of approximately 1839metre. Located at a distance of around 4 km from the city-centre, it is a must visit place for all tea lovers.
